When I was in my teens, punk was in. You'd see people with neon green or bright red hair walking down the streets with radio cassette players on their shoulders, blasting punk music straight into their ears. Aside, from the colors, the styles would be from frizzy, stand-up straight, half a foot long hair to mohawk with tail on the back (think Mr. T). I wanted to try the mohawk look but I chose not to because I didn't want to be stared at. I somehow drew the line at colored hair.
What I remeber best was Cindy Lauper of the good old Girls Just Wanna Have Fun days. Man, did she have hair and some. It was lke, red and then orange and then she'd have those patches of square hairs on her head that wasn't cut but pinned down somehow. How'd she do that?
Anyway, when I reached my twenties, I decided to grow my hair long. For a guy to have long hair gives you all sorts of feelings. I felt freer. I felt confident. I felt good. I cut it off though when I noticed myself obssessing with hair care products.
Now I'm older. I tried the opposite direction and had my top shaved off. It was a fresh feeling. That and the fact that I didn't have to worry about dandruff or lice. I could stop using shampoo and just use whatever soap I was using. Shampooing hair is tedious. I liked being bald so much that I did it again. I used to have thin straight hair. When I had it all sheared off, the first time it grew back, it was thicker than it was. Again, it was a nice feeling. I'm contemplating on going bald for the third time. I felt comfortabe with it. One thing I noticed, before I went bald, I had lots of falling hair. Now, I only notice about half my usual hair fall rate
Anyway, walking down the street, the first thing most of us notice is the hair. Whoever you are, wherever you came from, your hair contributes to who and what you are. Somehow, those tiny strands of material are part of your personality. They actually mold your personality because it affects your attitude.
For those of you who are experiencing hair loss, take heart. One solution is to go bald. Believe me. There's nothing to it. Don't wanna shine? Another solution is to look at all those hair loss stoppers and hair growth formulas that are available in the market today. You can get one from a drugstore without prescription. Good thing about hair growth enhancers is that they actually stimulate hair growth on your bald spots.
To each his own. Just hurry while it's still early. |
